Support for Birth workers

It is an honour and a privilege to support parents in their journey to parenthood. As a consultant, midwife, fertility specialist or coach, doula or lactation consultant we are often witness to the most joyous moments and the most painful.  We know that the empathy that makes us such wonderful supports to our clients also can lead us to feel drained, fatigued and burnt out.

Sometimes the helper needs support themselves and we are here to take care of you if you are experiencing:

  • Burnout
  • Compassion Fatigue
  • Trauma and/or Vicarious Trauma
  • Questioning if you "are made for this type of work?"
  • Want to learn how to mind yourself well in your career and beyond
  • Learn to love your work again
  • Want to redefine your purpose

Speaking with a perinatal specialist means you don't have to explain the process, the environment or the challenges of birth work, we can just dive right in and get you feeling like yourself again.

When Should You Speak with a Perinatal Specialist?

Persistent sadness or worry

 Consistently replaying challenging experiences

 Dreaming about work

Feeling hopeless or like your work lacks purpose

Not enjoying activities you feel you should

 Poor self-care (eating, sleeping, support)

 Feeling overwhelmed

Avoiding places, people or emotional conversations

Doubts about your ability to be a birth worker

Felling numb or robotic

 Feeling angry or persistently irritable

After witnessing a traumatic birth

Fantasising about saving your clients

Noticing it is harder to keep good boundaries

You need to talk to someone who will understand
